DOT physicals

DOT Physicals

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) requires that individuals operating the following vehicles need to have a DOT physical at least every 2 years or less depending upon the health of the individual:

  • Vehicles with a gross vehicle weight, gross weight rating, gross combination weight, or gross combination weight rating of 10,001 pounds or more.
  • Vehicles designed to transport more than 15 people, or more than 8 people when there is direct compensation involved.
  • Vehicles transporting hazardous materials that require the vehicle to be placarded.

These individuals must be evaluated by a certified medical examiner according to FMCSA
Dr. Chris Dreas is a certified medical examiner with the FMCSA.
